Bakewell is located on the picturesque River Wye and you are likely to access the village from the car parks over the stone bridge that crosses the river. You will get a delightful view of ducks, geese, swans and moorhens as they negotiate the weirs alongside the village. If you are considering a place to stay in the Peak District, then Bakewell could be the perfect location given its proximity to so many tourist venues within easy reach.

Bakewell is famous as the original place where Bakewell Tart (or to give it the proper local name - Bakewell Pudding) was first made. You will find several original bakery shops where pudding can be tasted and bought, or even posted home for you.
