ELSECAR HERITAGE CENTRE - NR BARNSLEY, S. YORKS
To the north of Sheffield just off the road to Barnsley is a developing
tourist centre - Elsecar Heritage - in the form of a collection of workshops
and businesses which will delight adults and children alike. Craftsmen
can be seen at work in various art and manufacturing processes. There is the National Bottle Museum, Hot Metal Press Printing House, Steam Locomotive and Newcomen Beam Engine.

The area is also popular for walks
along the Timberland Trail, Trans-Pennine Trail, to Wentworth and in
the South Yorkshire Forest. Look out for leaflets describing these walks
in more detail.
Directions By Car - Leave M1 at junction 36 and follow the brown signs for "Elsecar Heritage". The centre is also signposted from the Dearne Valley Parkway. Free visitors' car park. By Train - Direct services operate from Sheffield, Leeds, Huddersfield and Wakefield to Elsecar. From the Elsecar Train Station, follow the brown signs for "Elsecar Heritage Centre".
